nTaps
A TAP is a passive splitting mechanism installed between a "device of interest" and the network. TAPs transmit both the send and receive data streams simultaneously on dedicated channels, ensuring all data arrives at the monitoring device in real time.
For that reason, a TAP requires the monitoring device to be equipped with a dual-receive capture card capable of aggregating the two data streams.
