Conversion nTap 10/100/1000 Notes:

The 10/100/1000 Copper to Optical Conversion nTAP includes a connection to either side of the full-duplex link under test as well as copper and optical standard full-duplex analyzer connections (only one analyzer connection can be utilized at once).

The optical analyzer connection is available with SFP modules that convert data from a copper link to a single-mode or multimode interface.

The 10/100/1000 Copper to Optical Conversion nTAP replicates the copper signal and sends one signal back to the network. The other signal is either sent to the copper full-duplex analyzer or converted into an optical signal and sent to the optical analyzer, which is required to be equipped with a dual-receive capture card.

Network Instruments Conversion nTap

Compatibility

  • Network/protocol analyzers
  • Security monitoring devices
  • Forensic tools
  • Remote monitoring appliances
  • RMON probes, and more

Technology

  • 10/100/1000 Copper to Optical Conversion nTAPs transfer network data at line rate from 10 Mb, 100 Mb, and 1000 Mb full-duplex links to either a copper or optical monitoring device
  • Conversion nTAPs can be permanently deployed without interfering with network performance or introducing a point of failure
  • Conversion nTAPs provide continuous network data flow, even if power to the nTAP fails
  • Because nTAPs are not addressable devices, they cannot be the target of a hack or virus attack
  • Three conversion nTAPs can be mounted in a single 1U rack panel

nTAP Advantages

  • Economical to install
  • Provide full visibility into full-duplex links
  • Will not block error packets
  • Compact design
  • Failover redundancy compatible
  • Meets international RF emission standards
